Location

The Mill is a recently completed Industrial Subdivision located 2.5km from the centre of Kumeu and approx 2km from the village of Riverhead. The Mill, named after the former Carters mill on the site, has been developed in park like surrounds offering a unique working environment for local and regional businesses. The site is sympathetic to the environment and a genuine asset to the local community.

Positioned off Forestry Road (off Deacon Road), it provides easy access to the new North Western motorway extension and also the Western ring route motorway which will link North and South from Manukau and Auckland Airport through to Albany. Heading North, it is a short and pleasant drive to connect to Albany and the North Shore.

There is currently 48,000sqm of new retail development underway in nearby Westgate, with another 49,000sqm in the medium-term development pipeline. The immediate developments include the new 27,000sqm Regional Shopping Mall being built by DNZ Property Fund, an 11,000sqm Mitre 10 MEGA, a Palmers Garden Centre and a new Pak’n Save supermarket. All of this supports strong population and economic growth into the future and will benefit the surrounding region including Riverhead and Kumeu.

An example is the major transformation taking place at Hobsonville Point. This masterplanned community which is currently underway, will eventually see 2,500 homes and 2 schools built, with an additional 7,800sqm of retail/commercial property.

Riverhead also has a some 1,500 residential sections planned.

Site Features

The Mill contains over 10ha of industrial and commercial land and a significant amount of infrastructure has been invested into the site including storm water, potable water supply from a water bore, as well as onsite waste water treatment. This infrastructure is significantly more than what is provided for within the existing Kumeu Township providing flexibility and potentially lower development costs for occupiers of the site.

Water: Bore – 140m3/day + lake supply for fire fighting and high use activities
Wastewater – 14m3/day, with capacity to extend many times that as required

Being developed as an industrial park, The Mill has provided numerous opportunities to implement environmental features beyond the scope of its individual sites and buildings. Environmentally preferred infrastructure, shared services and amenities have been incorporated to reduce the site’s environmental impact as well as increase the potential for all future buildings to perform well in Green Star rating assessments.

Sites in The Mill range in size from 2000 sqm to 15,000 sqm and come fully serviced. Occupiers of the sites include Freedom Pools, Onsite Solutions and timber treatment company North Treat.

Under the Unitary Plan the sites are zoned Light Industrial with the Riverhead Precinct 1 overlay.
